Finally, I got to ride and drive a snowmobile!! This is now crossed off from my bucket list! ♥
We included a snowmobile tour in our Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis tour with North Star Adventures.
Our package is called the Yellowknife Aurora Package and it includes a 3-night stay at a hotel, 2 nights of 4-4.5hr Aurora hunting tour, 2hr snowmobile tour (optional at $149+GST/person), and a personal airport pick-up service.
North Star Adventures provided heavy-duty gloves and snowmobile for all of us. Mr. C and I rode together because I was nervous driving the snowmobile by myself. It was a good decision, though! Some of the trails we went through were pretty scary (for me). There were several times when we thought we were going to fall at one side. Fortunately, we didn’t!
Our tour guides allowed our group to drive around the frozen lake. We had the place all to ourselves. It was fun!! Add the windchill effect.
At one point, our snowmobile got stuck because of the deep snow.
When we were already starting to feel numb from the freezing weather, we took a break. Our tour guides led us to a campsite – complete with bonfire and tent. They served us the most comforting and delicious hot chocolate and maple cookies. Ahh, perfect combo to warm ourselves!! ♥
After the much needed break, we headed back using a longer but more scenic trail. The view was absolutely breathtaking! As our tour guide said, it’s like we’re in Narnia. We had so much fun. We would definitely do this again.
I’m not sure which I enjoyed better, this snowmobile tour or the dogsledding!
Have you tried a snowmobile tour?
Pin it for later!
