Even a snow storm has a bright side. For others, it could be skiing or snowboarding. For us, it’s a perfect excuse to eat our favorite noodle soup! We might have a change of heart once we learn how to ski/snowboard. Might. 🙂
One thing we love about Deer Garden is how we can customize the soup. You can choose among 10 different kinds of soup base, type of noodles, and 2 items from their 33 toppings (you can add more at $1.75/item but it’s not needed, believe me).
My delicious Thai Tom Yum Goong Soup has the perfect level of sourness (lots of chopped tomatoes) and subtle spiciness.
The Peanut Sauce & Chili Soup has a rich and creamy, sweet peanut taste. It is topped with shrimp chili paste. This savory combination reminds me of a popular Filipino dish called “Kare-kare”.
Both soups are loaded with beef briskets, fish puffs, mushrooms, beancurd sticks, cabbage, cilantro and green onion. Our two toppings are the beef briskets and the fish puffs. The beef briskets are very flavorful and tender while the fish puffs are soft and light.
For $9.75+GST, you’ll have a large serving of noodle soup. If you think that you can still eat more after this generous serving of soup, you can also get a side order (smaller portion of their meals). It’s a good deal because it’s a cheaper way to try the other meals. Each side order is only $2.25 if you order their noodle soup. My favorite is the pan-fried beef tongues but the other side orders are also delicious.
Oh my God.. those photos are fantabulous!! You made me all hungry! So glad to come across your blog 🙂 xoxo
