Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome

Being one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome didn’t disappoint.  Our stay in this 5-star hotel was beyond expectation.  The hotel is stylish and elegant.  Customer service was nothing less than exceptional.  We were warmly welcomed by all personnel and was escorted to check in.  They assisted us with our bags and even gave us a suite upgrade! ♥  Its location is excellent for sightseeing and shopping.  *If you are traveling with your dog, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome is pet-friendly and has pet-friendly amenities.

We were ushered to our Park Deluxe Suite where we first saw the spacious bedroom with the luxurious king-size bed.  On the other side of the room was the door to the suite’s bathroom.  The bathroom had a walk-in closet, two sinks, a tub, rain shower, and heated floor.  The hotel also provided exclusive bath amenities by Christophe Laudamiel, bathrobes, and slippers.

We loved the classic design of the suite.  It was cozy, elegant and updated.  We were surprised by the size of the room.  It is definitely larger than the standard room size in Paris.  Come to think of it, the size of the bathroom is comparable to the standard room size in Paris!

Making our stay even more enjoyable was the complimentary welcome gift waiting for us in our suite.  The welcome gift included a plate of beautiful French macarons and a bottle of champagne.

Hotel Mayet

What this boutique hotel lacked in space, it made up for in its charming design.  Hotel Mayet has a great central location in the 6th arr. and it is only a 2-min walk from the nearest Metro Station.  Given its excellent location, Hotel Mayet has reasonable rates.  The staff was also friendly and helpful in suggesting places to visit.  This hotel has a lift fit for 2-3 people with just enough space for one luggage.

Room

We heard that rooms in Paris are usually small and our room was exactly like that.  But then again, euros 115/night in this location is a good deal.  Despite its tiny size, the room was still comfortable and cozy.  Decorated with unique pieces for wall art, the room had a fun and chic vibe.  It has the basic amenities except for a closet.  It also comes with free WIFI, hairdryer, AC and heater, safety deposit box, and cable TV.  The bathroom was clean, bright and modern.

Aside from the number of cafés and bakeries, there are also some supermarkets close to the hotel including a gourmet grocery store called La Grande Epicerie de Paris.  If you love cheese, visit Fromagerie Quatrehomme.

For other good dining options in the 6th arr., check La Crêperie de Josselin, L’Avant Comptoir de la Mer, Eggs & Co., Restaurant Guy Savoy.  6th arr. also has Pierre Hermé and Ladurée in the area.

Hotel ibis Paris Bastille Faubourg St Antoine

We found this hotel’s location convenient for commuting since it is only a block away from the nearest metro station.  We were able to book this hotel for €80/night, thanks to the Booking.com promo that was available at that time!  For the cheap price, this hotel is a good choice if you are not particular in having a large room with a view.  It has an elevator, a 24-hour front desk, and a parking.

The staff were also friendly and helpful.  We arrived earlier than expected and they offered to store our bags while we tour the city.

Room

Staying true to the typical Parisian room size, our standard double room was small.  Aside from the size, which did not come as a surprise anymore, everything was great.  The room and the bathroom were nice, clean and well-maintained.  The room had a desk, a closet, and charging stations on both sides of the bed.

Food

More than the convenience and very affordable rates, we enjoyed staying at this hotel mainly because of the food nearby.  There are several bakeries, patisseries, and crêperies in the neighborhood and although there are many of these around Paris, two of our favorites are from this neighborhood – Blé Sucré, a well-deserved famous patisserie, and O’Crousty, a small crêperie serving scrumptious crêpes.

Courtyard Paris Roissy Charles De Gaulle Airport Hotel

Unlike the previous hotels, Courtyard Paris Roissy Charles De Gaulle Airport Hotel is far from the city center but it is close to the CDG airport.  It takes around 1 hour to commute from CDG airport to the city center, that is, if you don’t get lost or miss the train.  If you have an early morning flight, it is practical to stay at this hotel the night before your flight.

Courtyard Paris Roissy CDG Airport Hotel also offers free shuttle service to its guests.  Just make sure that you don’t miss the last shuttle if you plan to leave the city center late on your last day in Paris.

The room was beautiful, bright, modern and clean.  It was very spacious and comfortable to sleep in.  The bathroom was equally nice.

As I have mentioned in 15 Untold Tips for Tourists Visiting Paris, the location of your accommodation matters because each arrondissement or area in Paris has its own vibe.  But, in terms of the convenience of exploring the city, we didn’t experience any noticeable difference whether we stayed at the 6th arr. or the 2nd arr.  We chose accommodations that are near Metro stations so we were able to go around Paris easily.  Except, of course, for the Courtyard Paris Roissy CDG Airport Hotel since we had an early return flight.  Make sure that you choose an accommodation that is close or within a short walk to a Metro station!

To give you an idea, these are some of the areas you should also consider:

1st arr. – Located at the heart of Paris, the 1st arr. exudes luxury, history, and culture.  It is located near famous landmarks such as the Louvre which makes it a great location for sightseeing.  It is also a great choice for travellers interested in food and shopping.  Accommodations in this arrondissement are relatively more expensive.
Attractions: The Louvre, Le Palais Royal, Jardin des Tuileries

3rd arr. and 4th arr. – Known as Le Marais, the 3rd and 4th arr. have an interesting mix of historic and trendy vibes.  You will find old buildings, medieval architecture, cafés, hip boutiques, luxury shops, bars, and restaurants.  If you are interested in art, culture and food, you should look into the accommodations in this area.

  1. We spent a week in Paris last year and stayed at the Park Hyatt Vendôme! It was so fun to read your review and see your photos of the familiar room. We loved our stay there, and I completely agree that it is the perfect place to stay for a luxury trip to Paris. It was in a lovely location, and we loved their breakfasts too!

  2. Thanks for all the accommodation ideas! I appreciate the details on attractions and food available near each hotel. My husband and I were in Paris in September and we stayed in the 6th near Hotel Mayet. We loved the hustle and bustle of the area and its ease to get by foot to many of the main things that we wanted to see. I second that recommendation!

  3. I have never been to Paris, and this post makes me want to go so bad!! I think that Hotel Mayet would be the place for me. Crazy how small the rooms are, but they do seem quite cozy. Hotel Mayet looks nice and bright with great location to see some of the sights on my list like the Louvre. I definitely need to visit O’Crusty for some delicious looking crepes as well!

  4. This is an awesome place. I love all the hotels here. I would pick the ibis hotel because of their professional attitude and predictability. When i went to Paris i stayed at ibis montmartre, it was small but very clean and convenient.Your pictures are fabulous. I love the shot of louvre in the evening, its so magical

  5. THank you for this post as I am soon goin to Paris and can have an overview on where to sleep. I like this French architecture style and would love to stay in this kind of buildings. From what you showed Hotel Moyen looks like my favorite for the moment.

  6. I would love stay in a 5-star,luxury hotel in Paris. But, since we’d be traveling as a family, we’d need something more budget-friendly. I’d love to stay at Hotel Ibis Paris Bastille Fauburg St. Antoine. I would be at O’Crousty’s every day eating Crepes! Thanks for all of your great suggestions!

  7. Thanks for this super useful list of accommodation in Paris. Staying at the Park Deluxe Suite would be a dream, but the tiny rooms at Hotel Mayet look cozy as well!

  8. Great list with a variety of hotel stays in Paris. I moved to Paris over 40 years ago and it was the first time in my life that I saw a dog eat from a human plate at the hotel restaurant. They certainly love their dogs! I do like a location close to the metro so I have options of where to go. You got great rates for those hotels and I don’t mind the small rooms.

  9. I wish I had found a post as this when I traveled to Paris six years back. It was difficult to find good rooms at the best price. I remember, I had booked a room without breakfast but this turned out a real good experience. For every morning, me and my hubby would walk around and eat some really really delicious and fresh stuff from the bakeries around our hotel. Your post made me nostalgic. I love the Iron lady, the Eiffel.

  10. Holy moly! You are making my heart flutter with this post. I absolutely dream of going to Paris and these pics and this article is incredible!! Makes me even more excited to go. 😍

  11. Oh this seriously makes me want to go back to Paris so badly, I haven’t been in 15 years. Such a gorgeous city, and these hotels all sound fabulous!!
